CNG Prices per Kg (August 30)
Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) previously increased retail CNG prices by ₹3.89 per kg on August 28 in Delhi, Gurugram, and other cities. This hike was attributed to elevated international LNG prices and rising input costs, although IGL noted Delhi maintains some of the lowest CNG rates globally among gas-importing nations.

India's Energy Diversification Efforts
The Indian government continues to prioritize reducing its dependence on imported cooking gas, securing supplies from alternative international sources, and strengthening domestic LPG availability. Efforts also focus on expanding piped natural gas connections nationwide.
While India’s sourcing of LNG and LPG has increasingly shifted towards the United States, Russia remains the country’s largest crude oil supplier. In August, India imported approximately 2 million barrels per day of crude oil from Russia, significantly more than the United Arab Emirates (UAE) at 0.61 million tonnes, its second-largest supplier.
Venezuelan crude has also grown in importance as part of India's supply diversification strategy since the beginning of the year, though its scope for further increase is limited by crude characteristics and refinery configurations. India imported 383,000 barrels per day from Venezuela in August.
In a related development, the deadline for LPG e-KYC (Aadhaar verification) was extended to August 31 for consumers who missed the initial August 23 cutoff.
