Broader Fuel Market Context and Supply Dynamics

Despite the recent easing of commercial LPG prices, India's overall LPG consumption faced challenges in the first half of 2026. Provisional data from the Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell indicates an 8% year-on-year fall, with consumption around 14.74 million tonnes compared to 15.95 million tonnes a year prior. This decline is primarily attributed to supply constraints caused by disruptions to imports through the Strait of Hormuz, rather than a drop in demand.

Between March and June 2026, the United States emerged as India's leading supplier of LPG, adapting to the shifting global supply landscape. Separately, Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) prices were also reduced by ₹5 per litre, bringing the Delhi rate to ₹110 per litre, offering some relief to airlines.
