Hyundai Bayon Unveiled in India: Features Generative AI & Dual 12.3-inch Displays

· · 3 min read

Hyundai Motor India has officially unveiled the Bayon SUV for the Indian market, with its launch set for October 26. The new model boasts a generative AI voice assistant, dual 12.3-inch curved displays, and over 70 connected-car features.

Hyundai Motor India has formally introduced the India-spec Hyundai Bayon, a new Intelligent Utility Vehicle (IUV) scheduled for launch on October 26. Customers can now place bookings for the SUV online or at authorized dealerships for an initial amount of Rs 11,000, with deliveries anticipated to commence during the upcoming festive season.

Hyundai Bayon Arrives with Generative AI

A standout feature of the Hyundai Bayon is its pioneering generative AI voice assistant, a first for Hyundai Motor India. This advanced system integrates 'Intelligence by Perplexity' with 'SoundHound AI' voice technology, enabling more intuitive and natural conversations between the driver and the vehicle.

Unlike traditional voice assistants that primarily respond to predefined commands, the Bayon's AI can understand complex conversational requests. Drivers can ask it to plan road-trip itineraries, provide real-time weather updates, suggest hotels, recommend restaurants, or even offer information on nearby shopping destinations and sports scores.

The SUV also supports over 500 embedded voice commands in multiple languages including English, Hindi, Hinglish, Tamil, Bengali, and Telugu. These commands allow drivers to control frequently used vehicle functions without requiring an internet connection.

Tarun Garg, Managing Director and CEO of Hyundai Motor India, stated, “With Hyundai BAYON, we are introducing an Intelligent Utility Vehicle that places technology and convenience at the heart of the customer experience. The generative AI voice assistant, connected cockpit, over-the-air updates and Bluelink features represent the next generation of intelligent mobility for Indian customers.”

Dual Displays and NVIDIA Power

The Hyundai Bayon elevates the in-car experience with two 12.3-inch curved panoramic displays. These screens seamlessly integrate driving information, navigation, entertainment, and connected functions into a unified digital cockpit, offering an immersive interface with advanced graphics, personalized controls, and individual user profiles.

Driving this sophisticated setup is Hyundai's Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC), which is accelerated by NVIDIA technology. The ccNC combines connected services, online navigation, and vehicle controls into a single, cohesive interface. It features a quick-access control panel, split-screen functionality, and smartphone-like quick controls, designed to make essential functions easily accessible while driving.

Extensive Connectivity and Updates

Further enhancing its appeal, the Bayon comes equipped with Hyundai Bluelink, providing more than 70 connected features. These functionalities include remote engine start/stop, comprehensive vehicle information, remote controls, smartphone and smartwatch connectivity, location services, navigation assistance, and a suite of safety and security features. This extensive connectivity allows owners to interact with their vehicle even when they are not in the driver's seat.

The SUV also supports Controller Over-the-Air (C-OTA) updates across up to 19 controllers. This capability ensures that Hyundai can deliver software enhancements and feature improvements remotely, keeping the Bayon's systems current and optimized throughout its lifespan.
