HFCL Secures Rs 2,329 Crore Fiber Optic Cable Contract; Shares Dip Despite Multibagger Gains

· · 1 min read

HFCL Ltd. has secured a three-year, Rs 2,329 crore contract to supply optical fiber cables to a global multinational platform from 2027 to 2029. Despite the significant deal, the stock saw a slight dip in early trading on September 1, 2026.

HFCL Ltd., a prominent telecom equipment and optical fiber cable manufacturer, announced on September 1, 2026, a significant three-year supply agreement valued at an estimated Rs 2,329 crore. This substantial contract, secured by its overseas wholly-owned subsidiary, involves providing high-quality optical fiber cables (OFC) to an undisclosed global multinational platform.

Details of the HFCL Fiber Optic Contract

The agreement stipulates that HFCL will supply multi-million fibre kilometres of OFC annually from calendar year 2027 through 2029. The company stated in its BSE filing that the total value of this strategic engagement is approximately $244 million, equivalent to the Rs 2,329 crore figure. This deal underscores HFCL's robust technological capabilities, operational execution, and strong customer relationships, reinforcing its ability to forge long-term partnerships in the global telecom sector.

Market Reaction and Stock Performance

Despite the substantial contract win, HFCL shares experienced a slight dip in early Tuesday trading. The stock was down 1.23 percent, trading at Rs 245.80 on the BSE at last check. However, this minor setback comes against a backdrop of impressive year-to-date performance, with HFCL delivering multibagger returns, having surged 256.80 percent so far this year. Investors are likely weighing the long-term benefits of the new HFCL fiber optic contract against broader market sentiments or short-term profit-taking.
