Hero MotoCorp, a leading Indian two-wheeler manufacturer, has laid the foundation stone for its second Global Parts Centre (GPC) in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh. This facility marks the initial phase of a substantial investment roadmap totaling over ₹3,200 crore, aimed at bolstering the company's manufacturing capabilities and strengthening India's position in the global automotive and electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem.
Strategic Investment to Boost Manufacturing
The new GPC in Tirupati represents an initial investment exceeding ₹750 crore. The broader ₹3,200 crore-plus commitment is designed to transform Tirupati into a pivotal manufacturing and electric mobility hub. This expansion is critical for Hero MotoCorp's global supply chain and supports its international growth ambitions.
Job Creation and Economic Impact
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu highlighted that Hero MotoCorp's decision underscores the state's investor-friendly policies and robust infrastructure. He noted that the company's presence has historically generated thousands of jobs and accelerated economic growth. The new Global Parts Centre alone is expected to create around 4,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities, acting as a significant economic catalyst for the Rayalaseema region and Andhra Pradesh.
Pawan Munjal, Executive Chairman of Hero MotoCorp, emphasized the company's belief in the synergy between business growth and nation-building. He stated that the project reflects deep confidence in India's future and Andhra Pradesh's vision for growth. The foundation stone was laid on the 103rd birth anniversary of Hero MotoCorp's founder and Chairman Emeritus, Dr. Brijmohan Lall Munjal.
Expanding EV Production and Capacity
The upcoming Global Parts Centre will serve as a strategic hub for managing both domestic and international spare parts operations. Critically, Hero MotoCorp confirmed that its entire electric vehicle portfolio is currently designed, engineered, and manufactured at its existing Tirupati facility. With the proposed investments, the annual production capacity at the Tirupati plant is projected to increase significantly, reaching between 1.2 million and 1.5 million units. This expansion further solidifies Tirupati's role as a key manufacturing center for future mobility solutions in India.
