Gurugram, India – Traffic authorities in Gurugram have impounded a two-wheeler after stopping a rider without a helmet or valid documents, only to discover an astonishing 113 outstanding traffic violations against the individual, totaling fines exceeding ₹10.68 lakh (approximately USD 12,800).
The incident occurred on Tuesday when Gurugram Traffic Police intercepted the rider at MDI Chowk during a routine enforcement check. Officials quickly noted the absence of a helmet and the rider's inability to produce necessary vehicle documents. A more thorough verification process then brought to light the extensive history of traffic infractions.
Stricter Enforcement Against Repeat Offenders
According to an official post by the Gurugram Traffic Police on X (formerly Twitter), the 113 pending challans amounted to exactly ₹10,68,500. The post confirmed that the vehicle was immediately impounded as a result of the discovery.
“Gurugram Traffic Police intercepted a rider at MDI Chowk with no helmet and no documents. A record 113 pending challan cases were found, amounting to a 10 Lakh fine (10,68,500 INR). The vehicle impounded immediately. Prioritize road safety and clear dues,” the official @TrafficGGM handle stated.
This incident highlights the Gurugram authorities' intensified efforts to crack down on repeat traffic offenders and ensure road safety compliance. Recent advisories have emphasized the use of advanced surveillance systems, including CCTV and automated challan issuance, to detect violations more efficiently.
