Gurugram Police Advise Work From Home Amid Heavy Rains, Waterlogging

· · 2 min read

Gurugram Police have issued an advisory urging businesses to permit work-from-home arrangements and citizens to avoid non-essential travel. This comes as heavy rains cause significant waterlogging and traffic congestion across the city, with the IMD issuing alerts for further downpours.

Gurugram Police released a traffic and weather advisory on July 7, 2026, recommending that corporations allow their employees to work from home. This preventative measure aims to safeguard residents, reduce unnecessary traffic, and assist local authorities in managing the city's roads.

Heavy monsoon rains have severely impacted Delhi-NCR, leading to widespread waterlogging and traffic disruptions. Gurugram has been particularly affected, with numerous roads and localities submerged after just an hour of rainfall. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued alerts for continued heavy rain over the next two days, signaling ongoing challenges for the region.

Advisory for Businesses and Commuters

In light of the persistent rainfall and the forecast for intense downpours, Gurugram Police anticipate significant congestion and waterlogging on major highways and intersections. The advisory specifically asks private organizations and businesses to facilitate remote work options for their staff in the coming days.

Reducing non-essential vehicle movement is crucial, according to the police. This will enable traffic management teams to maintain smoother traffic flow and ensure that emergency services can operate without interruption across the city.

Weather Forecast and Alerts

The IMD's forecast indicates that heavy rain will continue across Delhi and the broader NCR region on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, and Thursday, July 9, 2026. Red and orange alerts have been issued for the area, highlighting the severity of the weather conditions. While rain activity may see a reduction from July 11, generally cloudy skies are expected to persist, keeping Gurugram at risk of further waterlogging and traffic congestion.
