Ghaziabad Gears Up for Major Urban Expansion: Harnandipuram & Aerocity Plans Advance

· · 2 min read

The Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) board is set to approve key proposals for the Harnandipuram township and Aerocity Detailed Project Reports. These decisions will shape the city's next phase of urban growth and introduce new residential hubs.

The Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) is convening a critical board meeting to deliberate on a series of foundational proposals aimed at driving the city's outward growth and paving the way for significant new township projects. This gathering is seen as a pivotal moment for Ghaziabad's urban development roadmap.

Harnandipuram Township Blueprint

Topping the agenda is the official layout and Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the ambitious Harnandipuram township. A definitive ruling on this project is anticipated shortly. Envisioned as a massive city-sized hub, Harnandipuram spans approximately 521 hectares and has received an initial allocation of ₹2,384 crore from the Uttar Pradesh government, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

The township's footprint will integrate land from eight surrounding villages: Mathurapur, Shamsher, Champat Nagar, Bhanera Khurd, Nagla Firoz, Mohanpur, Bhovapur, Shahpur Nij, and Morta. Strategically situated directly behind Raj Nagar Extension, the project is accelerating its land acquisition phase to establish the groundwork for a major residential epicenter.

Aerocity and Bandha Road Development

Simultaneously, the GDA board will review the Detailed Project Report for Aerocity, a crucial step to clear the path for its next phase of development. Alongside the Harnandipuram master plan, proposals for acquiring land dedicated to Aerocity will be evaluated, along with key infrastructure decisions concerning Bandha Road.

These items are being bundled together to advance a unified development strategy for the region.

Future Connectivity and Growth

GDA Secretary Vivek Kumar Mishra emphasized the far-reaching impact of these upcoming decisions. Mishra stated that once these proposals secure board approval, connectivity and planned growth across the city’s peripheral zones are expected to gain significant momentum. Both blueprints represent core elements in the authority’s broader strategy to expand city limits and establish modern residential hubs across the district, promising to reshape Ghaziabad's urban landscape for years to come.
