Genesys International Corporation Ltd. saw its shares climb over 7% on Thursday after announcing a significant contract win. The geospatial technology firm secured a ₹283 crore World Bank-funded project to develop a comprehensive 3D Digital Twin and Spatial Intelligence Platform for Ahmedabad.
This ambitious initiative is a key component of the Gujarat Resilient Cities Partnership program. Its primary objective is to establish a unified digital foundation that will enhance urban planning, optimize infrastructure management, and streamline civic service delivery across the city.
Project Scope and Technology
The contract entails creating a detailed Geographic Information System (GIS) 3D digital map platform covering approximately 625 square kilometers of Ahmedabad. This extensive mapping will encompass crucial urban elements, including land parcels, properties, roads, water networks, sewerage systems, stormwater drainage infrastructure, and other vital civic assets.
A significant part of the project involves surveying and geocoding around 25 lakh properties, each to be assigned a unique digital identity, thereby creating a robust property-level spatial database for Ahmedabad.
Sajid Malik, Chairman and Managing Director of Genesys International, emphasized the project's strategic importance. "This project is not simply about a digital map; it is about building a high-precision digital representation of the city that brings together land, properties, roads, utilities and underground infrastructure on a common spatially intelligent platform," Malik stated.
Genesys will leverage its advanced sensor constellation to achieve this high-accuracy digital representation. The platform will also integrate mapping of underground civic infrastructure, such as water supply lines, sewerage systems, stormwater drainage, and cable networks, into a central GIS database.
Timeline and Strategic Impact
The Ahmedabad Digital Twin project is projected to be completed over two-and-a-half years, followed by a five-year period of operation and maintenance. This contract further solidifies Genesys International's leadership in digital twin technology, high-definition mapping, and Physical AI.
The order aligns with Genesys's ongoing expansion of its city-scale geospatial and digital-twin portfolio. The company combines surveying, mapping, GIS, artificial intelligence, and spatial data to develop solutions applicable across various sectors, including infrastructure planning, utility management, property administration, mobility, disaster preparedness, and overall civic service delivery.
