Former Tata Technologies CEO Sells Rs 165 Crore in Shares via Block Deals

Patrick McGoldrick, former Tata Technologies CEO, offloaded 2.1 million shares (0.51% stake) for Rs 164.85 crore in block deals. Major mutual funds and asset managers purchased the shares.

Patrick Raymon McGoldrick, the former CEO and managing director of Tata Technologies, has sold shares worth nearly Rs 165 crore in the company through block deals executed on the BSE. This significant transaction involved McGoldrick offloading 2.1 million shares, which represented a 0.51 percent stake in the Pune-based global product engineering and digital services firm.

The shares were sold in four separate tranches on Friday at an average price of Rs 785 apiece, bringing the total value of the transactions to Rs 164.85 crore. Following this sale, McGoldrick’s total holding in Tata Technologies reduced from 1.13 percent to 0.62 percent.

A consortium of prominent institutional investors acquired the shares. The buyers included ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund, Kotak Mahindra Mutual Fund, 360 One Asset Management, and Carnelian Asset Management & Advisors. These four entities collectively purchased an equal number of shares at the agreed price.

Patrick McGoldrick's Tenure and Influence

Patrick McGoldrick’s association with Tata Technologies spanned two decades before his retirement as CEO and managing director in September 2014. During his tenure, he played a pivotal role in the development and growth of the Tata Group’s engineering services business. Warren Harris succeeded him, taking over as CEO and MD in November 2017.

Currently, according to his LinkedIn profile, McGoldrick serves as an executive director at RNT Associates International Pte Ltd, a company founded by Ratan Tata. This firm focuses on providing advisory services and making investments in businesses that leverage breakthrough technologies and innovative business models.

Tata Technologies Market Performance and Financials

This substantial block deal comes months after Tata Technologies reported its latest financial results. For the March quarter, the company announced an 8 percent year-on-year increase in consolidated net profit, reaching Rs 204.17 crore, up from Rs 188.87 crore in the corresponding period a year earlier. Consolidated revenue from operations also saw a rise, climbing to Rs 1,572.22 crore in the fourth quarter from Rs 1,285.65 crore.

However, for the full fiscal year FY26, the company’s consolidated net profit experienced a decline to Rs 546.59 crore, compared to Rs 676.95 crore in FY25. Despite this, revenue from operations for the same period increased to Rs 5,505.57 crore from Rs 5,168.45 crore.

Tata Technologies made a highly anticipated stock market debut in November 2023, marking the Tata Group's first public offering in nearly two decades. The stock listed at a significant premium to its issue price, closing its first trading session with gains of nearly 163 percent.
