In 2025, Flipkart recorded the highest number of consumer complaints among e-commerce platforms registered with the National Consumer Helpline (NCH), according to data presented by the government to Parliament. Amazon and Meesho followed closely, highlighting a significant volume of grievances against major online retailers.

Amazon was second with 91,248 complaints, while Meesho registered 29,284 complaints. These figures place them at the forefront of consumer dissatisfaction within the online shopping sector.

Penalties and Significant Refunds Issued
The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) has taken action against 47 e-commerce platforms, imposing penalties totaling approximately ₹1.12 crore. Furthermore, the National Consumer Helpline has been instrumental in facilitating substantial refunds to consumers.
Between April 25, 2025, and June 30, 2026, the NCH helped consumers recover over ₹91 crore, with more than ₹63 crore specifically linked to complaints originating from the e-commerce sector. Over 1.47 lakh refund claims were successfully resolved without requiring litigation.
Common Consumer Grievances
The NCH received a staggering 5.11 lakh complaints related to quick commerce services in 2025, all of which were addressed. The most frequent issue cited by consumers was the non-delivery of products, accounting for 79,818 complaints. Other significant problems included:
- Delivery of incorrect products.
- Refusal to provide replacements or refunds as per policy.
- Delivery of defective or damaged goods.
- Non-refund of paid amounts.
- Deficiency in services.
- Sale of counterfeit or fake products.
- Unauthorized debits without consumer consent.
These statistics underscore the ongoing challenges in consumer protection within India's rapidly expanding e-commerce landscape.
