Flipkart Boosts Ekart Network with 900 Hubs, 750 New PIN Codes for Festive Sale

· · 2 min read

Flipkart has significantly expanded its Ekart logistics network, adding 900 new delivery hubs and extending coverage to over 750 new PIN codes. This move prepares the e-commerce giant for increased demand during its upcoming 'The Big Billion Days' festive sale, enhancing last-mile delivery across India.

Flipkart's logistics arm, Ekart, has undergone a significant expansion, adding 900 new delivery hubs and extending its reach to over 750 new PIN codes across India. This massive infrastructure upgrade is in anticipation of the e-commerce giant's flagship 'The Big Billion Days' festive sale, which is scheduled to commence on October 9, 2026.

Major Infrastructure Upgrade

The expansion includes an impressive 14 million cubic feet of new warehousing space, boosting Flipkart's storage capacity by 50 percent nationwide. The addition of over 900 delivery hubs brings Ekart's total network to more than 8,200 facilities, encompassing fulfillment centers, sortation hubs, and last-mile delivery operations. Furthermore, nearly 1,200 Flipkart Minutes micro-fulfillment centers have been established in over 150 cities to facilitate quicker deliveries.

Reaching Underserved Markets

A key aspect of this expansion is democratizing festive shopping by extending delivery services to previously underserved regions. New locations now include remote areas such as Leh in Ladakh, Kargil in Jammu and Kashmir, interior parts of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, and various communities across the Northeast, including Kamalanagar and Zamuang in Mizoram, Turacity in Meghalaya, and Bomdila in Arunachal Pradesh.

Faster Fulfillment for Sellers and Customers

To support the expected surge in shipment volumes and enable faster fulfillment, Flipkart has pre-positioned over 2.5 crore units of products from MSMEs, small sellers, weavers, and artisans within Ekart fulfillment centers. Additionally, 70 new pick-up stations have been opened in key seller hubs to reduce fulfillment time for merchants.

Hemant Badri, senior vice president and head of supply chain for the Flipkart Group, emphasized the customer-centric nature of the expansion. "Every year, The Big Billion Days raises the bar for what customers expect: faster deliveries and wider reach," Badri stated. "This year, a customer in Leh or Kargil will experience Big Billion Days for the first time."

This strategic investment aims to unlock greater volumes of same-day and next-day deliveries, ensuring a smoother and more accessible shopping experience for millions during the critical festive season.
