During an appearance on Business Today Television's 'Daily Calls' show, Pradip Halder, Founder and CEO of PHD Capital, provided expert analysis and recommendations for two prominent stocks: HDB Financial Services Ltd and consumer durables giant Voltas Ltd.
HDB Financial Services: Caution Advised Amid Overvaluation
Responding to a viewer who purchased unlisted shares of HDFC Bank's subsidiary, HDB Financial Services, at Rs 1,245 apiece, Halder highlighted the risks retail investors face in the unlisted market. He noted that many bought shares ignoring fundamental valuations, with the stock now trading around the Rs 700 mark.
Halder pointed out that the stock's current price-to-earnings (P/E) multiple is roughly 23 to 25, indicating significant overvaluation for those who invested at the Rs 1,200 level. His outlook on HDB Financial Services remains cautious, advising against fresh investments until at least four to five quarters of earnings results are available for re-evaluation.
For existing investors, Halder recommended a strict stop-loss at the recent low of Rs 609. He also suggested utilizing any upward bounce as an opportunity to partially exit the position, anticipating selling pressure at higher price points where many investors are currently stuck.
Voltas Ltd: Hold with Patience for Expected Rebound
Addressing a query from a viewer holding 450 shares of Voltas purchased at Rs 1,345, Halder provided a technical perspective on the stock. Despite entering a traditionally strong season for consumer durable stocks, Voltas has not performed as expected.
Technically, Halder observed a 'double bottom' formation in the Rs 1,550 to Rs 1,557 zone, but noted that the stock encountered heavy selling pressure there. He expects Voltas to slide further, likely testing the Rs 1,215 and Rs 1,250 levels before finding solid support.
Despite the ongoing correction, Halder advised the viewer to hold onto their position with patience. He anticipates that once Voltas briefly tests the Rs 1,215–Rs 1,250 support range, the upward momentum is likely to resume, leading to a potential rebound.
