The 47-year-old mother from Ambajogai recently captivated national attention after winning a local marathon running barefoot, all to secure funds for her daughters' schooling.

Mohandas Pai, responding to a post detailing her struggle, hailed her as a “true Heroine” who is deserving of both recognition and substantial help. He specifically tagged the Maharashtra government, the RIL Foundation, and other individuals and corporations in his appeal, emphasizing the need to support her family.

Ramabai's Story: A Mother's Sacrifice
Hailing from Ambajogai, Ramabai has tirelessly worked to support her two daughters. Following the tragic death of her husband, the immense responsibility of raising and educating her children fell entirely on her shoulders. When she learned about the local 'Amrit Daud' marathon, she saw an opportunity. The winner's prize of ₹3,000, while seemingly modest, represented a crucial sum for a mother striving to meet her children's educational expenses.
Despite lacking professional running gear, sportswear, or specialized training, Ramabai was undeterred. On race day, she arrived in a simple saree and slippers, competing against younger, better-equipped participants. During the race, as her slippers began to impede her progress, she made a resolute decision: she removed them, carried them in her hands, and continued running barefoot.
