EPFO Online Services Shutdown Extended to July 1; PF Claims Resume July 2

· · 2 min read

The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has extended the shutdown of its online services until July 1. PF claims, passbook access, and UAN services, suspended for a system migration, are now expected to resume from July 2, 2026.

The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has announced a further extension to the temporary shutdown of its online services, pushing the expected resumption date to July 2, 2026. Initially slated to be back online on July 1, the crucial digital platforms will now remain inaccessible until 11:59 PM on July 1.

This suspension, which commenced on June 26, is part of a significant system migration. EPFO is upgrading its digital infrastructure to enhance the speed, stability, and security of its online facilities for millions of provident fund subscribers across India.

Key Services Affected by the Outage

During this maintenance period, a wide array of essential services for both employees and employers remains unavailable:

  • PF Claims: Members cannot submit new withdrawal claims or track existing applications.
  • Passbook Access: Downloading e-passbooks is currently not possible.
  • UAN Services: Universal Account Number (UAN) related functions, including Aadhaar seeding and onboarding for new employees, are disrupted.
  • Employer Portal: Employers cannot access their interface to file Electronic Challan-cum-Returns (ECR), update employee records, or complete compliance tasks.
  • UMANG App: Several EPFO services within the government's Unified Mobile Application for New-age Governance (UMANG) are also impacted, including balance checks, claim submissions, and grievance registration.

Alternative Ways to Check PF Balance

While online portals are down, EPFO members can still obtain limited account information through offline methods, provided their UAN is activated and fully KYC-compliant with Aadhaar, PAN, and bank account details:

  • Missed Call: Dial 011-22901406 from your registered mobile number for a free SMS with account details.
  • SMS Service: Send "EPFOHO UAN ENG" (for English) or "EPFOHO UAN HIN" (for Hindi) to 7738299899.

EPFO has advised all members and employers to adjust their transaction schedules accordingly. Once the upgraded platform successfully goes live from July 2, all online services, including claim filing, passbook downloads, UAN management, and employer compliance functions, are expected to be fully restored. This modernization effort aims to deliver faster, more secure, and reliable services to EPFO's extensive subscriber base.
