The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) is enhancing its member services by rolling out a new WhatsApp-based support system. This initiative aims to provide subscribers with quick and convenient access to essential information directly through the popular messaging platform.
What Services Are Available on WhatsApp?
EPFO members can now use WhatsApp to perform several key functions:
- Check PF Balance: Instantly view your current Provident Fund balance.
- View Last 5 Transactions: Get a summary of your most recent five PF transactions.
- Check Claim Status: Monitor the real-time status of your submitted PF claims.
This service is designed to streamline access to information, reducing the need for members to visit offices or navigate complex online portals for basic inquiries.
How to Use the EPFO WhatsApp Service
Accessing the new service is straightforward. Members simply need to:
- Save the official EPFO WhatsApp number to their contacts (the specific number will be announced by EPFO).
- Open WhatsApp and send a 'Hello' message to the EPFO contact.
- The system will verify the message originates from a mobile number registered with the member's Universal Account Number (UAN).
- Upon successful verification, a menu of options will be presented in the user's local language.
- Members can then select their desired service, such as checking their PF balance or claim status.
Responses are anticipated to be processed by an AI chatbot or by querying the EPFO database, providing immediate information.
Benefits for EPFO Members
This new digital channel offers several advantages:
- 24/7 Availability: Services can be accessed at any time, day or night.
- Local Language Support: Communication will be available in vernacular languages, enhancing user comfort and understanding.
- Convenience: Most mobile users are already familiar with WhatsApp, making the service highly accessible.
- Support for PMVBRY Beneficiaries: Members eligible under the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Raozgar Yojana (PMVBRY) with pending issues, such as Aadhaar authentication or DBT enablement, can also utilize these support services.
The move is part of EPFO's broader strategy to leverage technology for improved member outreach and service delivery, ensuring greater satisfaction and efficiency in managing provident fund accounts.
