Indian passport holders residing in a select group of countries can now benefit from a simplified visa-on-arrival process when traveling to Dubai. The General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai (GDRFA Dubai) has introduced new guidelines allowing eligible individuals to secure either a 14-day or 60-day visa directly upon arrival in the emirate.
Who is Eligible for the Simplified Visa Process?
This initiative primarily targets Indian nationals, alongside citizens from Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines, Kenya, and South Africa. To qualify, applicants must hold an ordinary passport valid for at least six months and possess a valid residence permit issued by one of the following countries:
- United States
- United Kingdom
- Any European Union member state
- Canada
- Australia
- New Zealand
- Japan
- South Korea
- Singapore
Accompanying family members of eligible travelers can also avail themselves of this facility.
Visa Options and Extension Rules
Travelers have two primary options:
- 14-day visa on arrival: This visa can be extended once for an additional 14-day period.
- 60-day visa on arrival: This visa is not eligible for extension.
These options provide flexibility for both short visits and longer stays, catering to diverse travel needs.
Application Process, Fees, and Processing Time
Applying for the visa on arrival is designed to be straightforward through GDRFA Dubai's official digital channels. Applicants need to log into the smart services system, select the relevant service, provide the required personal details, and complete the payment. A recent color photograph with a white background and a valid passport are essential documents.
Once approved, the visa is sent directly to the applicant's registered email address. The processing time is remarkably fast, typically within 48 hours, with the service available 24/7 via the website and smart application.

This streamlined approach is part of the UAE's broader strategy to enhance travel convenience, attract more visitors, and bolster its thriving tourism sector. GDRFA Dubai reported significant demand, issuing 73,551 visas under this scheme during the first half of 2026, underscoring its popularity among eligible expatriates.
