This sudden downturn arrives as Rajinikanth's highly anticipated sequel, "Jailer 2," hits theaters, sparking industry speculation about its potential impact on "Drishyam 3's" theatrical run. Trade analysts are closely monitoring whether the courtroom drama can withstand the fresh competition.
"Drishyam 3" Collections Update
As of its second Wednesday, "Drishyam 3" has accumulated a total India net collection of ₹328.75 crore, with an India gross collection of ₹394 crore. The film's first week at the domestic box office recorded ₹245.50 crore. Daily figures for the second week include ₹14.50 crore on Day 8, ₹26.50 crore on Day 9, ₹22.50 crore on Day 10, ₹6 crore on Day 11, ₹8.50 crore on Day 12, and the recent ₹5.25 crore on Day 13.
Globally, "Drishyam 3" has achieved a worldwide collection of ₹509 crore, with overseas earnings contributing ₹115 crore. On Day 13, the film registered an overall occupancy of 9.77% across India, peaking at 12.77% during night shows.
"Jailer 2" Poses Significant Challenge
The release of "Jailer 2" is expected to severely impact "Drishyam 3's" box office trajectory, particularly in the crucial southern Indian markets. Rajinikanth's sequel has demonstrated formidable strength in advance bookings, signaling a robust opening.
"Jailer 2" has already secured ₹41.48 crore in advance bookings (₹37.60 crore excluding block seats) from the sale of over 19.60 lakh tickets nationwide for its first day. Furthermore, advance bookings for the film over the subsequent five days stand at ₹37.27 crore as of October 15, 8 AM. The total advance bookings for "Jailer 2" currently amount to ₹78.42 crore (₹69.87 crore without block seats), with Tamil-speaking regions leading the booking frenzy for Thalaivar's latest offering.
