UDAIPUR, RAJASTHAN – A Delhi-based family is now facing a police investigation after being accused of leaving the prestigious Oberoi Udaivilas hotel in Udaipur without clearing a substantial bill of ₹5.74 lakh. The luxury resort, known for its opulent facilities on the banks of Lake Pichola, lodged a First Information Report (FIR) following the alleged non-payment.
The Alleged Unpaid Stay
According to reports, Anurag Yadav, his wife, and their two children stayed at The Oberoi Udaivilas from August 14 to August 23. During their 10-day stay, the family reportedly utilized various high-end services and amenities offered by the hotel.
Upon checkout on August 25, the hotel management presented a bill totaling ₹5.74 lakh. Yadav reportedly informed the hotel that a travel agency, identified as Maker Baha Travel Agency, which had made the booking on August 12, would settle the dues. However, hotel management asserts that no special arrangements, discounts, or agreements regarding payment were made with the travel agency at the time of booking.
Police Investigation Underway
Ravindra Singh, a liaison manager at The Oberoi Udaivilas, formally lodged an FIR at the Ambamata police station in Udaipur. Sub-Inspector Ajay Raj Singh Shekhawat confirmed that a detailed investigation has been initiated into the matter. Authorities are reportedly examining the roles and statements of both the family and the travel agency involved.
