Delhi Cafe Launches 'Modi Ji's Melody Gelato' After PM Modi's Viral Gift to Meloni

· · 2 min read

Following Prime Minister Narendra Modi's viral gift of Melody toffees to Italian PM Giorgia Meloni, a Delhi cafe has introduced 'Modi Ji's Melody Gelato.' This limited-edition dessert from Firenze Gelateria & Caffè combines caramel, chocolate fudge, and Melody toffee chunks.

A diplomatic exchange has unexpectedly inspired a new culinary creation in the heart of Delhi. Firenze Gelateria & Caffè, a popular dessert spot in Defence Colony, has unveiled a limited-edition flavour: 'Modi Ji's Melody Gelato'. This unique offering capitalises on the recent viral social media buzz surrounding Prime Minister Narendra Modi's gift of Melody toffees to Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.

From Viral Moment to Gelato Sensation

The inspiration for the new gelato flavour stems from a video that circulated widely online, showing PM Modi presenting a packet of the iconic Indian Melody toffees to PM Meloni. This lighthearted moment quickly sparked a flood of memes, reactions, and nostalgic conversations across social media platforms, leading to a noticeable surge in demand for the classic chocolate-caramel candy.

Chef Parth Gupta of Firenze Gelateria & Caffè announced the innovative flavour through an Instagram post, playfully acknowledging the internet's obsession with the 'Melody moment'. He remarked, "The internet is obsessed with that packet of Melody. So, we understood the assignment. Introducing Modi Ji’s Melody Gelato."

A Sweet Blend of Flavours

The 'Modi Ji's Melody Gelato' is crafted to echo the beloved taste of the Melody toffee. It features a rich blend of sticky caramel, authentic Indian chocolate fudge sauce, and generous chunks of the chewy Melody toffees. The cafe, known for its traditional Italian gelato inspired by Florence, has embraced this unexpected foray into international diplomacy through dessert.

Chef Gupta also humorously commented on the unusual source of inspiration: "When they brought authentic gelato to Delhi, they never expected to find themselves in the middle of international diplomacy." He added that with India and Italy's growing ties, the restaurant felt compelled to "play its part."

This special flavour is available for a limited period exclusively at the Firenze Gelateria & Caffè outlet in Defence Colony. It transforms a simple, nostalgic Indian candy into an innovative Italian-inspired dessert, marking a sweet intersection of viral culture and culinary creativity.
