Commercial LPG Prices Hike on Oct 2; Domestic, CNG, PNG Rates Remain Stable

· · 2 min read

Commercial 19-kg LPG cylinder prices saw a hike across major Indian cities on October 1, increasing operational costs for businesses. Meanwhile, rates for 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinders, CNG, and PNG remained unchanged on October 2.

Commercial 19-kg LPG cylinder prices have increased across major metro cities, effective October 1, adding to the operational expenses for commercial establishments nationwide. This hike comes amidst fluctuating global energy markets, which have seen crude oil prices climb significantly.

Despite the rise in commercial LPG rates, the prices for 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinders, used by households, remained unchanged on October 2. Similarly, the rates for Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and Piped Natural Gas (PNG) also held steady.

Impact of Commercial LPG Price Hike

The increase in commercial LPG prices directly affects businesses that rely heavily on these cylinders for cooking and other operations, such as restaurants, hotels, and food vendors. For example, a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder in Delhi is now priced at ₹2,810, while in Mumbai, it stands at ₹2,764.50. Kolkata sees a price of ₹2,954, and Chennai is at ₹2,983.

This adjustment in commercial fuel costs is attributed to the volatility in international crude oil and LPG prices. On October 1, Brent crude jumped by 4.4% to $102.31 per barrel, and US West Texas Intermediate rose by 2.7% to $92.87, influenced by geopolitical developments.

Domestic LPG, CNG, and PNG Prices Stable

In contrast to the commercial sector, household consumers will not face immediate price changes for their 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinders. Prices for domestic cylinders on October 2 were ₹942 in Delhi, ₹941.50 in Mumbai, ₹968 in Kolkata, and ₹957.50 in Chennai.

CNG and PNG prices also maintained their previous levels. For CNG, Delhi's rate was ₹86.98 per kg, Mumbai's ₹88 per kg, and Bengaluru's ₹97 per kg. PNG consumers in Delhi paid ₹49.59 per SCM, while those in Mumbai paid ₹52 per SCM, and Chennai users paid ₹52 per SCM.

Regional Price Variations

Fuel prices, including LPG, CNG, and PNG, vary across different cities due to factors such as local taxes, transportation costs, and other regional market dynamics. Consumers are advised to check the latest rates specific to their city for accurate information.
