The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced an extension for Class 12 students to apply for scanned copies of their evaluated answer sheets. The new deadline is May 25, 2026, providing a crucial opportunity for students to review their examination performance.
This decision follows numerous complaints from students and parents regarding perceived discrepancies in marks, issues with blurred answer sheets, and unchecked responses. The extension also aims to alleviate confusion surrounding the post-result process and address technical difficulties encountered while accessing the official CBSE portal.
Deadline Extended for Answer Sheet Access
Many students expressed dissatisfaction with their recently declared Class 12 results, citing marks lower than anticipated and concerns about potential evaluation errors. The board's move to extend the deadline to May 25, 2026, acknowledges these grievances, allowing more time for students to understand their paper evaluation before deciding on verification or re-evaluation.
The controversy intensified after the Class 12 board results were announced, with students taking to social media to report discrepancies. Issues included marks on individual pages not matching final totals and general confusion about CBSE's revised re-evaluation system. Students and parents also highlighted significant technical glitches on the application portal and argued that the initial deadline was too short, especially during the busy college admissions period.
The New Application Process
Under the revised system introduced this year, students must first obtain scanned copies of their answer sheets before they can apply for verification of marks or re-evaluation. Previously, students could apply for verification directly.
To apply for scanned copies of evaluated answer sheets, students should follow these steps:
- Visit the official CBSE Post Result Services Portal.
- Log in using your Roll Number, School Number, and Admit Card ID.
- Select the specific subject(s) for which you wish to obtain scanned copies.
- Complete the application fee payment online via net banking, debit card, or credit card. Fees typically range from ₹500 to ₹700 per subject, subject to the board's current guidelines.
- Once the request is processed, CBSE will upload the scanned copy of your evaluated answer sheet to your account for download.
What to Review
After downloading the scanned answer sheets, students are advised to meticulously check for:
- Whether all answers have been properly evaluated.
- If any page was inadvertently left unchecked by the examiner.
- Any totalling mistakes in the marks awarded.
- Accurate transfer of marks to the final result.
Should any discrepancies be identified during this review, students can then proceed to apply for re-evaluation through the prescribed channels.
