The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced the schedule for Class 12 supplementary practical examinations, slated to take place between July 29 and August 4, 2026. Comprehensive guidelines have been issued for students falling under the Compartment category, clarifying participation requirements and logistical details.
Who Must Appear
Participation in the supplementary practical examination is mandatory for two distinct groups of Compartment students:
- Repeat Practical Only: This category includes students who need to re-take only the practical component of a specific subject. Importantly, their previously obtained theory marks will be carried forward, meaning they are not required to re-appear for the theory paper.
- Repeat Theory and Practical Both: Students in this group have been placed in Compartment for both the theory and practical parts of a subject. Consequently, they must sit for both examinations during this supplementary round.
Exam Locations
The venue for the supplementary practical exams will vary based on the student's status:
- Regular Candidates: Students who were regular candidates will take their examinations at their respective schools.
- Private Candidates: These students will be assigned to the same examination centers where their theory papers were conducted.
In situations where a particular school or center lacks the necessary facilities to conduct a practical exam for a specific subject, the relevant CBSE Regional Office will make arrangements for the examination to be held at an alternative, nearby school or center.
Mark Submission Protocol
CBSE has issued strict directives to all schools and examination centers regarding the submission of practical marks. Marks must be uploaded to the official portal on the very same day the examination is conducted. Once submitted, these marks will be considered final, and the board has explicitly stated that no requests for alterations or changes will be entertained post-submission.
