Delhi Traffic Police announced extensive diversions and regulated movement for a BRICS Summit 2026 motorcade rehearsal on Saturday, September 5, 2026, from 10 AM to 4 PM. Commuters should expect delays and use alternative routes or public transport.

Delhi residents should brace for significant traffic disruptions this Saturday, September 5, 2026, as the Delhi Traffic Police implements wide-ranging diversions and regulations for a BRICS Summit 2026 motorcade rehearsal. The restrictions will be in effect for six hours, from 10 AM to 4 PM, impacting numerous key routes across the city.

Extensive Diversions Across Key Routes

According to an advisory issued by the Delhi Traffic Police, at least 22 diversion points have been identified, with traffic movement to be regulated on over 35 roads. These measures are crucial for ensuring the smooth conduct of the rehearsal for the upcoming international summit.

Major areas where commuters can expect disruptions include:

  • Dr Dinesh Nandini Dalmia Chowk
  • Ram Charan Aggarwal Chowk
  • Mir Dard Chowk
  • Kasturba Gandhi Marg
  • Janpath/Connaught Place
  • Patel Chowk
  • Roundabout near RML Hospital
  • Vande Mataram Marg
  • Dhaula Kuan
  • Moti Bagh Flyover
  • Lodhi Road
  • Lodhi Road/Max Mueller Marg
  • Neela Gumbad
  • Ring Road/Bhairon Road

The Delhi Traffic Police has urged all citizens to plan their journeys well in advance and allocate extra travel time, especially if their routes traverse these affected areas.

Commuter Advisory: Use Metro, Avoid Roadside Parking

To minimize inconvenience, the Delhi Traffic Police strongly recommends the use of the Delhi Metro, particularly for those traveling towards central Delhi, railway stations (New Delhi, Old Delhi, and Hazrat Nizamuddin), and the airport. Road users heading to the airport are also advised to factor in additional travel time due to potential road restrictions.

Commuters are advised to:

  • Avoid restricted stretches wherever possible.
  • Follow all diversion signs and instructions from traffic personnel on duty.
  • Refrain from roadside parking; parking within 200 meters of controlled roads is strictly prohibited.

The advisory emphasizes that emergency and essential service vehicles will be accorded priority passage during the regulated movement. Citizens are requested to cooperate with traffic police personnel and avoid unnecessary travel through restricted zones during the rehearsal period.
