Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) has officially rolled out Bharatgas Lite ZIP, a new premium liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) service designed to cater to modern urban consumers seeking speed, convenience, and enhanced safety. The service, which promises instant new connections and express delivery, was initially launched in Mumbai.
Instant Connections and Express Delivery
Bharatgas Lite ZIP aims to streamline the process of obtaining an LPG connection. Customers can expect immediate setup of new connections alongside rapid delivery of cylinders directly to their homes. This initiative reflects BPCL's strategy to meet the growing demand for faster, more convenient essential services.
Innovative Composite Cylinders
At the core of the Bharatgas Lite ZIP offering is the Bharatgas Lite composite cylinder. These advanced cylinders boast several advantages over traditional metal alternatives:
- Easier Handling: Their lighter weight makes them simpler to move and install.
- Corrosion-Free: The composite material prevents rust, enhancing durability and aesthetic appeal.
- Visible Gas-Level Indicator: A transparent strip allows users to easily monitor the remaining gas, preventing unexpected outages.
- Enhanced Safety: Built with advanced materials, they offer superior safety features.
- Modern Design: A contemporary look that integrates well into modern kitchens.
Nationwide Expansion Plans
Unveiled by BPCL Chairman and Managing Director Sanjay Khanna, alongside Director (Marketing) Subhankar Sen, Bharatgas Lite ZIP is set for a rapid national rollout. The company plans to extend the service to 100 additional cities across 24 states by August 15, 2026. This aggressive expansion highlights BPCL's commitment to making premium LPG services accessible to a broader audience across India.
Intensifying Market Competition
The introduction of Bharatgas Lite ZIP intensifies competition within India's LPG sector. This launch follows similar moves by other state-run oil marketing companies (OMCs). Notably, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) recently partnered with quick-commerce platform Swiggy Instamart to offer on-demand LPG delivery in Bengaluru, including their 10kg HP Navya composite cylinder and 5kg metal cylinders. This collaboration targeted students, working professionals, and smaller households without existing connections.
With BPCL's new offering, all three major OMCs now have either composite cylinder or fast-delivery LPG solutions in the market or pilot phases, signaling a growing focus on the premium and quick-commerce-linked LPG segments. BPCL intends to leverage its extensive distributor network and digital platforms to ensure seamless instant connections and express fulfillment for Bharatgas Lite ZIP customers.
