· · 2 min read

Black Box Ltd. shares jumped over 8% after reporting its highest-ever Q1 revenue of Rs 1,719 crore. The IT firm also secured a significant US$131 million order for a US data center project.

Shares of Black Box Ltd., the IT services firm owned by the Essar Group, experienced a significant surge of over 8% in early trading on Thursday, August 13, 2026. This boost followed the company's announcement of its robust first-quarter earnings and a substantial new order win.

Record Q1 Performance Fuels Investor Confidence

The company's stock climbed 8.39% to reach Rs 838.25, pushing its market capitalization to Rs 14,736 crore. This impressive performance was primarily driven by Black Box's record-breaking Q1 revenue and positive financial guidance for the upcoming fiscal years.

For the quarter ending June 2026 (Q1 FY27), Black Box reported its highest-ever revenue from operations, reaching Rs 1,719 crore. This marks a 24% year-on-year increase from Rs 1,387 crore in the corresponding period last year.

  • Net Profit: Rose 18% year-on-year to Rs 56 crore, up from Rs 47 crore.
  • EBITDA: Climbed 38% to Rs 160 crore, compared to Rs 116 crore in Q1 FY26.
  • EBIT Margin: Improved to 7.5% in the June 2026 quarter, up from 6.6% a year prior.

Major US$131 Million Order Bolsters Backlog

Adding to the positive sentiment, Black Box secured a significant order valued at US$131 million (approximately Rs 1,240 crore). This contract is with a new US-based global Tier-1 hyperscaler for a major data center project in the United States.

Sanjeev Verma, Whole-time Director & Chief Executive Officer, commented on the results, stating, “We have entered FY27 with strong momentum, delivering our highest-ever quarterly revenue of Rs 1,719 crore, up 24% YoY, driven by improved execution of our expanding backlog and the contribution from our recently acquired Brazilian business, 2S. Strong order bookings of US$339 million lifted our backlog to an all-time high of US$949 million, providing greater visibility and a strong foundation for sustained growth.”

This strategic win marks a significant breakthrough for Black Box in the competitive US hyperscaler market, introducing a new marquee customer to its growing portfolio and further solidifying the data center industry as a key growth engine for the company.

Ambitious Growth Targets and Future Outlook

Looking ahead, the ITES major has set an ambitious target to double its organic revenue to Rs 12,000 crore (US$1.3 billion) by FY30, up from Rs 6,322 crore in FY26. The company cites a growing backlog, a pipeline of longer-duration, high-value, high-margin contracts, and sustained order inflows as factors providing multi-year revenue visibility.
