The Vedanta Group's social impact initiative, Nand Ghar, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Bihar to transform 1,000 Anganwadi centers across the state. This partnership marks Bihar as the 18th state to collaborate with Nand Ghar in its mission to modernize India's Anganwadi ecosystem.
The agreement was formally signed between Bihar's Department of Social Welfare and the Anil Agarwal Foundation's Nand Ghar initiative. Dr. Shweta Gupta, Minister of Social Welfare, Government of Bihar, and senior state officials were present alongside representatives from Nand Ghar during the signing ceremony. This collaboration is set to significantly strengthen Bihar's Anganwadi network, improving access to vital services for women and children.
Boosting Early Childhood Care and Women's Empowerment
This initiative aligns with the Government of India's Saksham Anganwadi and POSHAN 2.0 mission, which prioritizes early childhood care, nutrition, health, and comprehensive development. By upgrading traditional Anganwadi centers into technology-enabled Nand Ghars, the program aims to enhance the delivery of integrated services for mothers and children, creating vibrant community hubs.
The modernized Nand Ghars will feature advanced infrastructure, smart learning tools, child-friendly classrooms, and improved facilities for nutrition and healthcare. Beyond education and health, a core focus of the program is women's empowerment. These centers will offer vocational training and skill development programs, enabling women to enhance their employability, explore income-generating opportunities, and achieve greater financial independence.
