Karnataka Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has permitted Bengaluru restaurants and hotels to serve food until 3:30 AM on July 14, 15, and 19. This extension facilitates late-night screenings of the FIFA World Cup 2026 matches.

Bengaluru's football enthusiasts can now enjoy late-night screenings of the FIFA World Cup 2026 matches at local restaurants and hotels. Karnataka Chief Minister DK Shivakumar announced an extension of food service timings until 3:30 AM on specific dates in July.

The extended operating hours will apply on July 14, July 15, and July 19, 2026. This decision follows a formal request from the National Restaurant Association of India (NRAI), aiming to accommodate fans eager to watch the global football spectacle.

Government Responds to Fan Demand

Chief Minister Shivakumar shared the news on X (formerly Twitter), highlighting the widespread appeal of football and the FIFA World Cup. "Football inspires millions across the world, and the FIFA World Cup is a celebration that fans eagerly look forward to," he stated, confirming the permission for hotels and restaurants to extend food service from 1:00 AM to 3:30 AM on the designated dates.

The government emphasized that public safety, law and order, and citizen convenience remain top priorities while implementing this decision. Shivakumar urged everyone to enjoy the matches responsibly and cooperate fully with authorities.

Why These Dates Matter

The 2026 FIFA World Cup, co-hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the United States, attracts a massive following in India despite significant time differences. Matches telecast in India are typically scheduled at various late-night and early-morning slots, including 10:30 PM, 12:30 AM, 2:30 AM, 5:30 AM, and 7:30 AM IST.

Notably, the FIFA World Cup 2026 final is set to kick off at 12:30 AM IST on Monday, July 20. The Karnataka government's move ensures that Bengaluru's football fans can gather and celebrate these crucial late-night games without concerns about early closures, enhancing the viewing experience for many.
