Bengaluru South district police have successfully busted a sophisticated fake currency operation, leading to the arrest of seven individuals. The raid, conducted on Monday in Ramanagara city's Aizoor police station limits, uncovered a clandestine printing setup in a newly built house.
Seven Arrested in Ramanagara Raid
Following intelligence about counterfeit notes being printed, a police team descended on the premises, apprehending seven suspects on the spot. The arrested individuals have been identified as Santosh (35), Satish (36), Sampath (33), Rajesh (34), Renukaraj (31), Shivaraj (42), and Govindraj (50).
Materials for ₹5 Lakh Fake Notes Seized
During the search, police recovered a significant quantity of paper intended for creating counterfeit notes, estimated to be sufficient for producing approximately ₹5 lakh in fake currency. Officials clarified that these notes were not yet fully prepared but were still in the printing process. Additionally, chemicals essential for the manufacturing of fake currency were seized from the location.
"The seized material was meant for preparing counterfeit notes worth around ₹5 lakh. The notes had not yet been fully prepared and were still in the process of being printed," a senior police officer stated.
Investigation Underway to Uncover Wider Network
The Bengaluru police are now intensifying their investigation to trace the broader network behind this operation. Efforts are underway to identify other individuals involved and determine the intended circulation channels for the counterfeit notes. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Aizoor police station, and inquiries are ongoing.
