BEML Ltd., a prominent Indian public sector undertaking specializing in mining equipment, rail coaches, and defence platforms, has announced a significant narrowing of its net loss for the first quarter of the current fiscal year. The company reported a net loss of Rs 27 crore, a substantial improvement from the Rs 64 crore loss recorded in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal year.
Exceptional Gain Boosts Q1 Performance
The reduction in net loss was largely attributed to a one-time exceptional gain of Rs 33 crore. This gain played a crucial role in offsetting operational costs and improving the company's bottom line for the quarter.
Strong Revenue Growth and Improved EBITDA
Alongside the narrowed loss, BEML also demonstrated robust revenue growth. The company's revenue for Q1 surged by 29.3%, reaching Rs 820 crore, compared to Rs 634 crore in the same period last year. This increase reflects stronger sales across its diverse business segments.
Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amortization (EBITDA) also saw a healthy rise of 26.6%, climbing to Rs 220.51 crore from Rs 174.12 crore in the previous fiscal's Q1. Consequently, the EBITDA margin improved to 12% in the latest quarter, up from 9.73% year-on-year.
Dividend Recommendation
In addition to its Q1 results, BEML also recommended a revised Final Dividend of Rs 12.28 per equity share for the financial year 2025-26, signaling confidence in its financial health and commitment to shareholder returns.
