Belarus Introduces E-Visas for Indian Travelers, Plans Direct Flights to Mumbai & Goa

· · 2 min read

Belarus has enabled electronic visas for Indian citizens, effective September 14, 2026, simplifying entry and aiming to boost bilateral relations. The nation also plans direct flight routes connecting Minsk with Mumbai and Goa.

Belarus Simplifies Entry for Indian Citizens

Belarus has officially added India to its list of countries whose citizens can now obtain an electronic visa (e-visa) for entry. This significant decision, made by the Council of Ministers of Belarus on September 14, 2026, follows an initiative by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and is aimed at streamlining travel and strengthening bilateral ties between the two nations.

Under the updated regulations, Indian passport holders are eligible to apply for a Belarusian e-visa entirely online, eliminating the need for traditional, often cumbersome, physical visa application procedures. This move is expected to significantly ease the process for Indian travelers.

Boosting Bilateral Engagement and Trade

The Belarusian government underscores that this visa facilitation is intended to systematically simplify entry procedures and foster greater people-to-people contact, which it considers a vital pillar of Belarusian-Indian relations. Beyond tourism, the new e-visa facility is also poised to support stronger commercial engagement.

The Belarusian Foreign Ministry highlighted that making visa procedures online is a practical step towards expanding business cooperation. They specifically noted India's status as one of the world's largest and most dynamic markets, anticipating that reduced administrative barriers will facilitate business visits, B2B negotiations, and joint investment and trade projects.

Direct Flights Planned to Enhance Connectivity

Complementing the e-visa initiative, Belarus is actively pursuing plans to launch direct flight services connecting its capital, Minsk, with major Indian cities: Mumbai and Goa. These proposed air routes are expected to make travel between India and Belarus considerably more convenient for tourists, business travelers, and other visitors.

Improved air connectivity, combined with simplified visa processes, is anticipated to further bolster tourism, trade, and overall commercial links between India and Belarus. Additionally, Belarus has implemented broader changes to its visa framework, updating supporting document requirements and clarifying terminology.
