The Audi A6 Sportback e-tron has officially claimed a new Guinness World Record for the longest distance covered by an electric vehicle on a single charge. The innovative EV traveled an astonishing 1,338 kilometers (approximately 831 miles) across Poland, significantly surpassing previous benchmarks.
Record-Breaking Journey Across Poland
The monumental drive began on September 11, 2026, at 1:55 AM, and spanned over 45 hours. European Rally Champion Miko Marczyk piloted the Audi A6 e-tron performance model under typical traffic conditions, navigating a route along the Vistula River. His journey took him through major Polish cities including Krakow, Sandomierz, Warsaw, Toruń, Grudziądz, and Hel on the Baltic coast, before returning along the same path.
The record attempt concluded between Toruń and Ciechocinek, with the electric car having covered exactly 1,338 km without requiring a recharge. The drive encountered varied challenges, including rush-hour congestion and fluctuating weather, with temperatures ranging from an average of 15 degrees Celsius to as low as 7 degrees Celsius in the early morning hours.
This achievement not only shattered the previous Guinness World Record of 1,205 km, held by a Lucid Air Grand Touring, but also far exceeded the A6 Sportback e-tron performance's official WLTP range of up to 777 km by an impressive 561 km.
Efficiency Over Speed
Marczyk's strategy focused entirely on maximizing range rather than maintaining high speeds. Audi reported an exceptionally low energy consumption figure of 7.09 kWh per 100 km during the drive. Key techniques employed included smooth acceleration, anticipating traffic to avoid abrupt braking, extensive use of regenerative braking, and meticulous maintenance of correct tire pressure to minimize rolling resistance.
“For the record attempt, I drove the Audi A6 Sportback e-tron performance. There is enormous potential in that. Even for me, a result of 1,338 kilometres was a pleasant surprise,” Marczyk stated, according to Audi.
Audi A6 Sportback e-tron Specifications
The Audi A6 Sportback e-tron is built on Audi’s advanced Premium Platform Electric (PPE) architecture, featuring an 800-volt electrical system. Its battery boasts a gross capacity of 100 kWh, with a usable capacity of 94.9 kWh. The model produces 367 hp, enabling it to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in just 5.4 seconds. With a drag coefficient of 0.21, Audi claims the A6 Sportback e-tron is its most aerodynamic production car to date.
