Astra Microwave Products has announced a significant order win worth Rs 2,205.23 crore from state-owned aerospace major Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL). The contract, which is set to be executed over a five-year period, involves the procurement of key components for the highly anticipated Uttam Radar programme.
Specifically, the order includes 122 units of Active Array Antenna Units (AAAU) and 121 Interface Frames, all crucial for the Uttam Radar system. The Uttam Radar is an indigenous Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radar designed for fighter aircraft, marking a critical step in India's defence modernisation efforts.
Boosting India's Defence Self-Reliance
The Uttam Radar programme is central to India's strategic goal of achieving greater self-reliance in defence manufacturing. By developing and integrating advanced indigenous systems, the country aims to reduce its dependence on imported military technology and strengthen its domestic aerospace and defence ecosystem.
Strong Financial Performance Underpins Growth
The contract further bolsters Astra Microwave Products' already robust order book, which stood at Rs 2,610 crore at the end of Financial Year 2026. The company has consistently demonstrated strong financial performance, driven by increasing demand from the defence sector and a healthy execution pipeline.
- For the March 2026 quarter, net profit surged by 44.4% year-on-year to Rs 106 crore.
- Revenue from operations in the same quarter rose by 19.7% to Rs 488.2 crore.
- The full financial year 2026 saw a 26% increase in net profit, reaching Rs 192.97 crore, with annual revenue growing 11% to Rs 1,162.8 crore.
Despite the positive news of the order win, shares of Astra Microwave Products experienced a slight dip, falling 2.75% to Rs 1725 on Thursday.
