Ashneer Grover, the former managing director and co-founder of BharatPe, recently announced the launch of Fund My Staff, a new fintech platform designed to broaden credit access for employees. The platform enables employers to act as guarantors for loans taken by their staff, particularly targeting those who have limited or no formal credit history.
Grover, known for his direct approach, stated his motivation on LinkedIn: "Ameer - Garib debate bahut ho gayi. Let’s walk the talk. Sab house staff ko paise ki dikkat rehti hai - aap help to karna chahte hai staff ki - par baat paise pe aa kar ruk jaati hai. Aap bas apni guarantee do - paise hum denge!" This highlights the platform's aim to bridge financial gaps for workers who struggle to obtain personal loans through traditional channels.
How Fund My Staff Works
The Fund My Staff platform streamlines the process for employers to support their workforce. Employers can onboard staff, set specific loan limits, review employee loan requests, and approve them by providing a workplace guarantee. Once a request is approved, loans are disbursed to the employee and repaid through monthly Equated Monthly Instalments (EMIs). Crucially, employers do not bear the financial burden of the loan amount; they solely serve as guarantors, while the employee receives and repays the funds over the agreed tenure.
Operating as a Lending Service Provider (LSP), Fund My Staff adheres to the Reserve Bank of India’s digital lending guidelines. Loans are originated and sanctioned by RBI-registered lending partners, with Ash Grove Capital Private Limited, an RBI-registered NBFC, currently listed as a partner.
From Third Unicorn
Fund My Staff has been developed by Delhi-based Third Unicorn, the venture founded by Grover and Aseem Ghavri following Grover's departure from BharatPe. Third Unicorn has previously introduced other fintech innovations, including ZeroPe, a medical financing application launched in 2024. The company also operated the fantasy cricket platform CrickPe, which ceased its operations in February 2025.
The success and widespread adoption of Fund My Staff will largely depend on employers' willingness to act as guarantors and the pricing of risk by lending partners. Its compliance with RBI norms and partnership with a registered NBFC are expected to offer reassurance to both regulators and borrowers, though robust monitoring and clear dispute-resolution processes will be vital as the platform scales.
