Anurag Jain Appointed NITI Aayog CEO, Brings Decades of Policy and Admin Expertise

Senior bureaucrat Anurag Jain, a 1989-batch IAS officer, has been formally appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer of NITI Aayog. He brings nearly four decades of experience in public administration and economic strategy to the central government's policy think tank.

NITI Aayog today formally welcomed senior bureaucrat Anurag Jain as its new Chief Executive Officer. Jain, a distinguished 1989-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer from the Madhya Pradesh cadre, assumes the top post with a mandate to steer India's premier policy think tank.

Bringing nearly four decades of experience, Jain's expertise spans public administration, economic strategy, and large-scale governance. His appointment, approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), is for a tenure of two years or until further orders.

Extensive Administrative Background

Jain’s administrative record includes high-profile roles across both state and central government tiers. Most recently, he served as the Chief Secretary of Madhya Pradesh, demonstrating his leadership at the state level.

Prior to his tenure in Madhya Pradesh, Jain held significant secretarial portfolios at the Centre. These included leading the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, a crucial department for national infrastructure development, and the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), which is vital for industrial growth and economic policy.
