Amitabh Bachchan's Ayodhya Land Deal: Abhinandan Lodha Details ₹15 Crore Purchase

· · 2 min read

Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan secured a 15,000 sq ft plot in Ayodhya for ₹15 crore, a deal initiated by a late-night call to developer Abhinandan Lodha. This high-profile investment adds to Ayodhya's booming real estate market post-Ram Mandir inauguration.

Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan has finalized a significant real estate acquisition in Ayodhya, purchasing a 15,000-square-foot land parcel for approximately ₹15 crore. The deal, which has drawn considerable attention, was reportedly initiated by a surprising late-night phone call from Bachchan to real estate entrepreneur Abhinandan Lodha.

Bachchan's Ayodhya Investment Journey

Speaking at a recent real estate event, Abhinandan Lodha, associated with The House of Abhinandan Lodha (HoABL), recounted the unexpected interaction. Lodha revealed that Bachchan personally reached out to inquire about a substantial piece of land in Ayodhya. Initially, Lodha assumed the actor would be interested in a smaller property, but was surprised when Bachchan specifically requested a much larger plot.

“Mr Bachchan called me late at night and asked if I had a 15,000 sq ft land parcel available in Ayodhya,” Lodha stated in an interview. This request was notable, as such large plots are rarely sought by individual buyers. The conversation quickly translated into a transaction, leading to the purchase of the plot at The Sarayu, a premium development by HoABL.

Ayodhya's Real Estate Boom

This ₹15 crore transaction marks one of the most high-profile celebrity real estate investments in Ayodhya. The city's property market has witnessed a dramatic surge, particularly following the inauguration of the Ram Mandir. This has spurred increasing interest from high-net-worth individuals, developers, and investors who see long-term potential in religious tourism.

The current deal is not Bachchan's first foray into Ayodhya's real estate. In March 2026, he expanded his footprint by acquiring a 2.67-acre land parcel for ₹35 crore, also from The House of Abhinandan Lodha. This latest acquisition is reportedly Bachchan’s third investment in Ayodhya and his fourth plotted development purchase with HoABL.

Broader Investment Trends

A report by Liases Foras, titled "Ayodhya – A Rising Global Spiritual Capital," highlights the transformative changes in Ayodhya's real estate landscape. The report attributes this growth to escalating land values and burgeoning interest in both long-term investment and spiritual tourism. According to the study, Ayodhya's land prices have experienced a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 19%, with projections suggesting this pace could accelerate to 25% by 2035.

The city's development into a major spiritual and tourism hub continues to attract significant capital, with investors betting on sustained appreciation and returns from its evolving market.
