Alok Industries Stock Hits 52-Week Low, Plunges 23% Amid High Trading Volume

Shares of RIL-backed Alok Industries Ltd. hit a fresh 52-week low, falling 22.61% in five trading sessions. Stock exchanges sought clarification on the sudden surge in trading activity, to which the company affirmed compliance with disclosure regulations.

Alok Industries Ltd., a textile manufacturer significantly backed by Reliance Industries Ltd. (RIL), saw its stock price plummet to a fresh 52-week low of Rs 8.76 on Monday, August 31, 2026. This sharp decline marks a significant 22.61% plunge over the last five trading sessions, contributing to a nearly 48.38% drop over the past year.

Increased Trading Volume Prompts Exchange Inquiry

The notable volatility in Alok Industries stock caught the attention of major Indian bourses. Both BSE and NSE recently requested clarification from the company regarding an unusual spike in its trading volume. On Monday alone, approximately 24.82 lakh shares changed hands on BSE, significantly higher than the two-week average of 10.16 lakh shares. The small-cap company currently commands a market capitalization of Rs 4,414.10 crore.

In response to the exchanges' inquiry, Alok Industries stated, "We have made all disclosures which are required to be made in terms of SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015 (Listing Regulations)." The company further asserted that there was no undisclosed information that should have been announced to the stock exchanges, reiterating its commitment to comply with all listing obligations.

Q1 FY27 Financials and RIL Stake

On the financial front, Alok Industries reported a consolidated net loss of Rs 138.25 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2026 (Q1 FY27). This represents an improvement compared to the net loss of Rs 171.56 crore recorded in the same quarter of the previous fiscal year (Q1 FY26).

Revenue from operations for Q1 FY27 showed a positive trend, increasing by 6.50% year-on-year to reach Rs 993.11 crore. As of June 2026, Reliance Industries Ltd. held a substantial 40.01% stake in Alok Industries, with JM Financial Asset Reconstruction Company owning 34.99%.
