Air Marshal Jeetendra Mishra, a decorated veteran of the Indian Air Force, has been named the first Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. His appointment marks a significant transition from a distinguished military career spanning nearly four decades to a pivotal administrative role overseeing the management and development of the Ram Mandir complex in Ayodhya.
A Career of Operational Excellence
Commissioned into the fighter stream of the Indian Air Force on December 6, 1986, as part of the 138 Course, Air Marshal Mishra accumulated over 3,000 hours of flying experience across various aircraft. His extensive operational record includes critical involvement in the Kargil War, where as a Squadron Leader, he played a key role in operationalizing laser-guided bombs on Mirage 2000 aircraft during Operation Safed Sagar.
Mishra's expertise extended to India's aviation and testing ecosystem. He served as Chief Test Pilot at Hindustan Aeronautics Limited's Nashik division and at the prestigious Aircraft and Systems Testing Establishment. He also led the Indian Air Force contingent during Exercise Garuda IV in France, showcasing his international experience and leadership.
Strategic Leadership and Awards
Throughout his career, Air Marshal Mishra held numerous senior command appointments. He commanded No. 15 Wing at Bareilly and No. 18 Wing at Pathankot as an Air Commodore. Later, he served as Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Projects) at Air Headquarters and Commandant of the Aircraft and Systems Testing Establishment.
Upon achieving the rank of Air Marshal, he took on crucial roles within the Integrated Defence Staff, including Deputy Chief of IDS (Doctrine, Organisation and Training) and Deputy Chief of IDS (Operations).
In a significant leadership position, Mishra took charge as Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Western Air Command on January 1, 2025. During Operation Sindoor in May 2025, he commanded the Western Air Command as India conducted military strikes following the Pahalgam terror attack. His exceptional wartime leadership was recognized with the Sarvottam Yudh Seva Medal, one of India's highest military honors for distinguished service during conflict.
Extensive Professional Education
Air Marshal Mishra's professional development is equally impressive. His educational background includes the National Defence Academy, the Air Force Test Pilots School, the Air Command and Staff College in the United States, and the Royal College of Defence Studies in the United Kingdom. He is also qualified as a Fighter Combat Leader and an experimental test pilot, underscoring his deep technical and strategic acumen.
