Air India Launches Non-Stop Delhi-Toronto Flights August 1 with New Boeing 787-9

· · 3 min read

Air India will launch daily non-stop flights between Delhi and Toronto starting August 1, utilizing new Boeing 787-9 aircraft. This upgrade eliminates the Vienna fuel stop, cutting travel time by nearly three hours and introducing premium cabin products.

Air India is set to introduce daily non-stop flights between Delhi and Toronto from August 1, 2026, deploying its advanced Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft. This significant upgrade will eliminate the current fuel stop in Vienna, considerably reducing travel time and enhancing the passenger experience with the airline's latest premium cabin products.

Faster Travel and Daily Service

The removal of the en-route fuel stop is expected to cut the Delhi-Toronto journey from approximately 20 hours to about 17 hours. The return flight from Toronto to Delhi will operate non-stop with a flying time of up to 16 hours. Alongside the aircraft upgrade, Air India will restore daily operations on this crucial route, increasing frequency from the current five weekly flights. The airline had temporarily adjusted its schedule between June and July 2026 due to rising fuel prices and geopolitical factors.

Enhanced Onboard Experience

The new Boeing 787-9 aircraft features a three-class cabin configuration, marking the debut of Air India's latest onboard product in the Canadian market. Passengers can look forward to:

  • Business Class: 30 private suites with direct aisle access, fully flat beds, wireless charging, personal storage, and 17-inch 4K QLED HDR entertainment screens.
  • Premium Economy: Available for the first time on this route, offering 28 seats with wider seating, additional legroom, and enhanced services tailored for ultra-long-haul travel.
  • Economy Class: 238 ergonomically designed seats equipped with 11.6-inch entertainment screens.

Across all cabins, travelers will benefit from the Thales AVANT Up inflight entertainment system, providing over 3,000 hours of content, Bluetooth audio connectivity, USB-A and USB-C charging ports, and AC power outlets. The new cabins also feature mood lighting inspired by Indian wellness traditions, redesigned amenity kits, and refreshed dining options.

Strategic Expansion and Customer Focus

"Canada is home to one of the world's largest and most vibrant Indian diaspora communities, and Toronto has long been one of Air India's most important international gateways. As we continue transforming Air India into a world-class global airline, we are steadily expanding the availability of our newest aircraft and latest cabin products across key international routes," said Campbell Wilson, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Air India.

Wilson emphasized that the introduction of the new Boeing 787-9 on the Delhi-Toronto route will provide a significantly enhanced travel experience, extending the airline's premium offerings across North America.
