Indian equity markets saw a downturn on Monday, with the BSE Sensex dropping 442.03 points to 77,708.52 and the Nifty50 declining 95.80 points to 24,238.50. This dip was influenced by renewed tensions in the crude oil market and ongoing evaluations of quarterly earnings. Amidst this market activity, select buzzing stocks like Adani Green Energy Ltd, Vodafone Idea Ltd, and Punjab National Bank (PNB) are drawing significant attention from traders.
Jigar S Patel, Senior Technical Research Analyst at Anand Rathi Share and Stock Brokers Ltd, has provided detailed technical analysis and trading recommendations for these three prominent stocks for the upcoming trading session.
Adani Green Energy: Profit Booking Advised
Adani Green Energy shares have experienced a robust rally in recent months. However, recent price action suggests a weakening of bullish momentum. The MACD histogram is forming lower bars, indicating a negative momentum divergence despite the stock trading near its highs, signaling an exhaustion phase in the uptrend. The Relative Strength Index (RSI) has cooled towards the 50 zone, reflecting a loss of buying strength, while the cumulative volume delta remains negative, pointing to subdued institutional participation.
Although the broader trend for Adani Green remains positive, the risk-reward ratio is no longer favorable for initiating new long positions at current levels. Support for the stock is identified at Rs 1,500, with immediate resistance near Rs 1,600. Investors are advised to consider booking profits, as the stock may undergo a period of consolidation or a corrective decline before a sustainable uptrend can resume.
Punjab National Bank (PNB): Buy Recommendation
Punjab National Bank (PNB) has shown a decisive breakout above a falling trendline, suggesting an end to its recent corrective phase. This breakout is supported by a positive MACD histogram, indicating improving bullish momentum. The Directional Movement Index (DMI) shows the +DI well above the -DI, confirming that buyers are regaining control. The cumulative volume delta has turned sharply positive, signaling strong buying interest and increased institutional participation.
Additionally, the RSI has climbed above 60, highlighting strengthening momentum without entering the overbought zone. The overall technical structure positions PNB favorably for further upside. Analysts recommend buying PNB shares between Rs 112 and Rs 109, setting a stop loss at Rs 104, and targeting an upside of Rs 124. A sustained move above this breakout zone could trigger additional buying momentum in the near term.
Vodafone Idea: Profit Booking Suggested
Vodafone Idea Ltd has also seen a strong rally over the past few months, but recent technical indicators suggest that this bullish momentum is fading. The MACD histogram remains in negative territory, indicating weakening momentum and increasing the likelihood of a near-term correction. The DMI shows the -DI trading above the +DI, confirming that sellers are gradually gaining control of the stock.
Furthermore, the cumulative volume delta remains negative, reflecting reduced buying participation and limited institutional support. The RSI has slipped below the 50 mark, signaling a loss of bullish strength. The overall technical setup suggests that Vodafone Idea may enter a phase of consolidation or correction. Support for the stock is placed at Rs 13, with immediate resistance seen near Rs 14.33. Profit booking is advised at current levels, as the risk-reward has become less favorable following its recent rally.
