Adani Green Energy Shares Rise 3% Amid Market Dip on New Solar Project in Gujarat

· · 2 min read

Adani Green Energy shares climbed 3% today, defying a broader market selloff, after its subsidiary operationalized a new 139 MW solar project in Khavda, Gujarat. This boosts the company's total operational renewable generation capacity.

Shares of Adani Green Energy Ltd. (AGEL) saw a 3% surge in Wednesday's trading session, contrasting sharply with a broader market downturn. The positive movement followed the announcement that its wholly-owned stepdown subsidiary, Adani Green Energy Twenty Six A Limited, has successfully operationalized a 139 MW solar power project in Khavda, Gujarat.

The commissioning of this new project significantly bolsters AGEL's renewable energy portfolio. The company's total operational renewable generation capacity now stands at an impressive 20,280.80 MW, complemented by 3,551 MWh of operational Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) capacity. Adani Green Energy informed stock exchanges about the project's commercial operationalization on Tuesday, September 1, 2026.

Market Performance Amidst Selloff

The stock opened at Rs 1,250 apiece on the BSE, slightly below its previous close of Rs 1,260, but quickly gained traction to hit a high of Rs 1,296.25. This ascent occurred despite the BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty indices both registering declines of nearly 1% each. While the Nifty Energy index posted a marginal gain of 0.02%, Adani Green Energy emerged as one of its top-performing constituents.
