· · 2 min read

Actor-turned-politician Vijay has declared total assets worth ₹624 crore ahead of the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. His affidavit revealed over ₹300 crore in bank accounts and fixed deposits, with ₹213 crore in a single IOB savings account.

Actor-turned-politician Vijay has officially declared substantial personal wealth totaling approximately ₹624 crore as he prepares to contest the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. The financial disclosures, submitted with his nomination papers, provide a detailed look into the assets of the leader of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK).

Extensive Bank Holdings and Fixed Deposits

According to the election affidavit, Vijay holds more than ₹300 crore across various bank accounts and fixed deposits. A significant portion of this liquidity, over ₹213 crore, is held in a single Indian Overseas Bank savings account located in Saligramam, Chennai.

Beyond this primary account, the TVK chief also reported deposits across multiple other financial institutions, including Axis Bank, HDFC Bank, State Bank of India (SBI), and ICICI Bank. His preference for stable investments is evident in the ₹100 crore allocated to fixed deposits, distributed among Axis Bank (₹40 crore), Indian Overseas Bank (₹25 crore), HDFC Bank (₹20 crore), and SBI (₹15 crore).

Despite his considerable wealth, Vijay's exposure to the stock market remains minimal, with equity holdings declared at less than ₹20 lakh. These holdings include shares in Jaya Nagar Property Pvt Ltd, Indian Overseas Bank, and Sun Paper Mill Ltd.

Property and Loan Disclosures

Vijay's immovable assets are valued at around ₹220 crore, comprising a diverse portfolio of residential and commercial properties. These include holdings in prominent Chennai localities such as Neelankarai, Saligramam, Mylapore, and Egmore. Additionally, the affidavit lists agricultural land located in Kodaikanal.

The affidavit also provides details on his luxury vehicle collection, which features models from BMW, Lexus, and Toyota Vellfire. Furthermore, Vijay has disclosed significant loans and advances extended to family members, trusts, and associates, notably including ₹12.6 crore provided to his wife, Sangeetha Vijay.

Income and Political Landscape

For the financial year 2024-25, Vijay reported an income of ₹184.53 crore. His party, the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, has reportedly emerged as the single largest party in the 234-member Assembly, securing 108 seats. To form the government, the TVK would require the support of an additional 118 Members of Legislative Assembly to cross the majority threshold.
